2020 Methodology for the 2020 Corporate Human Rights Benchmark

The 2020 Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (CHRB) Methodology focuses on companies’ human rights policies, processes, practices, as well as how they respond to serious allegations. It outlines specific indicators across six measurement themes of different weights.

The methodology is grounded in international and industry-specific standards on human rights and responsible business conduct. It will be used to assess 230 companies across five sectors on their human rights disclosures and performance, using public information disclosed by companies on their website, other platforms or through the CHRB Disclosure Platform.

The five sectors are:

• the agricultural products sector
• the apparel sector
• the extractives sector
• the ICT manufacturing sector
• the automotive manufacturing sector.

The results – the 2020 Corporate Human Rights Benchmark – will be published in November 2020. As with all of the World Benchmarking Alliance’s benchmarks, the results will be free, fully transparent and publicly available, to empower companies and stakeholders to encourage action towards a more inclusive and fair world.

2020 CHRB Methodology for the Automotive Manufacturing Industry

This methodology is a pilot methodology based on the existing 2019 Corprate Human Rights Benchmark Methodology for the Agricultural Products, Apparel, Extractives and ICT Manufacturing industries. Specific Automotive Manufacturing indicators were developed in consultation with a variety of stakeholders in July to November 2019.
