Financial institutions

Engaging the finance ecosystem to apply data, inform stewardship, and drive accountability for sustainability

We work with financial institutions and key actors across the finance ecosystem to accelerate corporate accountability and sustainable systems transformations. By using our open-source data, insights, and expertise to conduct investment analysis and individual stewardship activities, financial institutions can confidently challenge companies on the speed of progress and the decisions taken in relation to global sustainability goals.

We work together with investors in the following ways:

Multi-stakeholder action

To build collective investor and multi-stakeholder action. These actions include WBA-led company engagement activities, such as issuing statements, sending letters and targeted company meetings.

Data & insights

To input data and insights as well as share methodologies and expertise with financial institutions and with finance-focussed initiatives  led by other organisations.

Knowledge sharing activities

To work with investors to shape WBA’s and other organisations activities such as providing input into any methodology developments, contribution to or attendance at WBA events and roundtables as well as providing input into WBA publications.

Our Collective Impact Coalitions

To drive cross-sector, collaborative action based on data and evidence provided by WBA benchmarks, we established Collective Impact Coalitions (CICs). These multi-stakeholder CICs, comprised of financial institutions, civil society organisations and others, aim to collectively hold companies to account and bring about change.

More details

WBA’s multi-stakeholder approach enriches our ability to promote ethical AI. We are grateful to have witnessed an openness to engagement among companies on this critical topic since we launched this CIC initiative in mid-2022.
