Colombia offers a powerful lens through which to examine what credible corporate transition looks like in emerging markets. The country sits at the intersection of several issues shaping global sustainability debates: biodiversity protection, energy transition, extractive industries, agricultural value chains, social inequality, Indigenous Peoples' and local community rights, and sustainable finance. These dynamics make Colombia a particularly relevant setting for examining how climate, nature and social considerations come together in practice, and what this means for corporate accountability.
This paper draws on data from multiple benchmarks to explore corporate transition readiness across climate, nature and social dimensions in Colombia. Using publicly available company disclosures, it examines how Colombian companies, multinational companies operating in Colombia and regional peers are responding to evolving sustainability expectations.
The findings are intended to support dialogue among companies, investors, policymakers, workers, local communities, civil society and other stakeholders seeking to advance credible corporate transition. The 2026 WBA Action Forum in Bogotá provides one immediate opportunity to bring these perspectives together, complementing benchmark evidence with experience from stakeholders on the ground and helping translate evidence into shared understanding and more effective action.
