China Southern Power Grid is one of two state owned power distribution companies established during China's power system reform in 2002. The company is responsible for the investment, construction and management of power transmission and distribution in China's five southern provinces, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan. It serves 20% of the Chinese grid, around 230 million people, while the State Grid Corporation of China serves the remaining 80%.
