Act ethically
The company has a process in place to identify instances of bribery and corruption but could disclose the specific details of this process. Additionally, while it includes anti-bribery and anti-corruption clauses in its contracts with business relationships, it could also describe the consequences of breaching these clauses. Furthermore, it could disclose its processes for identifying and addressing bribery and corruption and a grievance mechanism allowing stakeholders to raise related concerns.
The company also has an opportunity to publish a policy statement that outlines its approach to lobbying and political engagement. Although it has a publicly available policy statement that specifies that political contributions must be made in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, it could also disclose that it only allows political contributions by exception. Moreover, it could divulge its lobbying expenditures.
Provide and promote decent work
The company could disclose a time-bound target for paying all workers a living wage or mention that it has achieved paying all workers a living wage. It could also describe how it determines a living wage for the regions in which it operates, and explain how it works to support their suppliers in paying a living wage to their workers.
Furthermore, while the company has a statement on gender equality and women’s empowerment it could formalise it into a policy document and disclose related targets. It could also disclose the representation of women on the highest governance body and the ratio of the basic salary and remuneration of women to men.
Respect human rights
The company has an opportunity to disclose a policy statement expecting its business relationships to respect the ILO fundamental rights, which applies across all contexts and locations.
Additionally, it has the opportunity to describe a comprehensive process for identifying human rights risks and impacts across all its activities and supply chain, as well as assessing and identifying what it considers to be its salient human rights issues. The latter could include a description of how relevant factors, such as geographical, economic and social, are taken into account. Furthermore, it could also reveal a global system to address its salient human rights issues by preventing, mitigating or remediating them.
