Brazilian company JBS is the biggest protein producer in the world in terms of revenue and operates over 400 production facilities in 22 countries. The company produces beef, pork, sheep and chicken products for a consumer market that serves 350,000 customers in more than 150 countries, as well as manufacturing by-products into leather, hygiene, cleaning and biodiesel products, among others. JBS has a daily production capacity of 80,000 cattle, 14 million birds, 115,000 pigs and 100,000 leather pieces. It holds leading market positions in home country Brazil, Argentina, Australia and the United States of America - the latter largely due to the controlling stake it purchased in Pilgrim's Pride, the nation's largest poultry company, in 2009.
