Agropur
Agropur is among the the largest dairy cooperative in North America, jointly owned by 2,974 member farmers across five Canadian provinces. Across its 32 plants the cooperative processes 6.6 billion litres of milk annually and manufactures a variety of cheese, milk, protein powder and yoghurt products, primarily sold in Canada. Over the years since its founding, Agropur had consolidated its leading continental market position with over 140 mergers and acquisitions.
Segment ranking summary
Agropur sits at the bottom half of the ranking both among the animal proteins producers and the food and beverage processors. As a result, it largely lags behind most of its peers in the dairy sector. This poor performance is mainly due to a lack of timely and consistent sustainability disclosure. However, even when the cooperative discloses on relevant key topics such as in environment and social inclusion, its commitments and targets are limited compared to leading peers. Furthermore, the cooperative is one of the few among its benchmark peers to perform weakly in the governance and strategy measurement area, reflecting an opportunity to increase its disclosure and performance.
