Three billion people rely on seafood as an essential part of their diet, yet providing this nutritious food presents serious challenges for the global seafood industry. These challenges include food insecurity in developing countries, human rights violations, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing worldwide. The largest seafood companies are uniquely positioned to address these issues.
The benchmark includes the 30 most influential companies in the seafood industry. Because of their size, reach, and influence across global fisheries, these companies have the capacity to accelerate positive change and set the standard for responsible practices throughout the industry.
SSI Self-Assessment tool
WBA developed a simple self-assessment tool for companies who wish to assess themselves using the 2023 SSI methodology. This self-assessment tool serves as an internal roadmap and gap analysis tool for companies. Using the tool to track performance over time can provide valuable insights into progress on key issues in the seafood industry.
