The US-based company J.M. Smucker was founded in 1897 and incorporated in 1921. The company manufactures and markets branded food and beverage products globally, although most of its sales are in the US. Its principal products are coffee, dog food, pet snacks, cat food, peanut butter, and fruit spreads. While the products of the company's US retail segments (US Retail Coffee, US Retail Consumer Foods, US Retail Pet Foods) are sold through a combination of direct sales and brokers to food retailers, the products from the international segment (International and Away From Home) are distributed domestically and in foreign countries through retail channels and food service distributors.
