Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) is an Indian cooperative that manufactures and markets fertilisers. Founded in 1967 and headquartered in New Delhi, it is one of the largest cooperatives in the world, with around 35,000 member cooperatives reaching over 50 million Indian farmers. IFFCO has five plants and over 20 state offices across India and extends its operational presence globally through joint ventures such as JIFCO (Jordan), KIT (Dubai), OMIFCO (Oman) and ICS (Senegal).
IFFCO ranks 35th in the agricultural input segment, putting it in the bottom half of the segment. The cooperative lags in governance and strategy and performs poorly in social inclusion, compared to its peers. Regarding its environmental performance, the company commits to improving soil health, but lacks targets across most topics assessed in the benchmark. This includes targets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, water withdrawal and plastic use in its own operations and supply chain. The company provides some disclosure in the nutrition measurement area, notably its programme to contribute to food security. IFFCO has room to improve its performance compared to its peers by increasing its sustainability disclosure.
