Repsol is a publicly listed company headquartered in Spain. Repsol is an integrated oil and gas company operating across four continents. The company owned Argentine oil and gas producer YPF until its renationalisation in 2012. In 2022, its revenue was USD 83.5 billion and it employed 24,000 people.

Repsol ranks 1st in this year’s CHRB and is the top performing Extractives company. It has the highest score overall for human rights practices, and scores in the top three on remedies and grievance mechanisms as well as embedding respect and human rights due diligence.

Repsol performs has a well established due diligence process and grievance mechanism, and has assigned clear responsibilities for managing human rights across the business. It is also one of just three companies, and the only extractives company, to commit to working with human rights defenders to create a safe and enabling environment for civic engagement.

Repsol has an opportunity to develop board and senior level incentives for human rights performance. It could also strengthen its policy commitment to respect working hours.
