In 2025 we delivered one of the most significant milestones in our history: successfully assessing 2,000 of the world’s most influential companies in a single cycle and launching the results in early 2026. Alongside this, we continued advancing our impact through learning, pressure, and norm-setting - supporting companies on climate transition planning, driving collective action on ethical AI, and strengthening global expectations on corporate accountability.
These achievements came amid an exceptionally difficult context. 2025 was shaped by major disruptions in the global funding landscape, including reduced international development support and declining philanthropic resources. These pressures coincided with our own organisational expansion, undertaken to deliver our commitment to assess 2,000 companies in a single cycle. As a result, we made the difficult decision to downsize, with 49 colleagues leaving the organisation. Despite the personal and professional impact, we remained committed to supporting those affected and sustaining our mission.
In the face of these challenges, we adapted our strategy and moved towards an Integrated Transition Planning approach focused on climate, nature, social issues, and AI. We also restructured internally to become more agile and resilient. Despite a demanding year, we move forward with greater clarity, focus, and sustainability.
