Act ethically
While the company prohibits bribery and corruption, it has an opportunity to formalise this commitment in a public policy document and it could also include anti-bribery and anti-corruption clauses in its contracts with business relationships. Furthermore, the company has an opportunity to have a policy setting out its lobbying and political engagement approach and disclose a publicly available policy statement that specifies that it does not make political contributions. Moreover, the company could disclose its expenditures on lobbying activities and disclose that it requires third-party lobbyists to comply with its lobbying and political engagement policy.
Provide and promote decent work
The company states that it seeks to promote health and safety at work. However, it has an opportunity to use stronger language to show a commitment to health and safety and could formalise this commitment in a public policy document. Additionally, the company could disclose a policy statement that expects its suppliers to do the latter.
Furthermore, while it upholds worker rights, and its subsidiaries comply with applicable labour laws, it has an opportunity to commit to paying a living wage by setting a time-bound target. The company could also disclose how it determines a living wage for the regions where it operates and how it works to support the payment of a living wage by its suppliers.
Moreover, while the company has a statement on gender equality and women’s empowerment, it has an opportunity to translate the latter in a public policy document. Lastly, the company could disclose that it has at least 30% women on the highest governing body and the ratio of the basic salary and remuneration of women to men.
Respect human rights
The company has a publicly available statement committing it to respect human rights and the ILO’s fundamental rights at work but has an opportunity to place them in a formal policy document. Additionally, the company could disclose a policy statement that expects its suppliers to commit to respect the human rights that the ILO has declared to be fundamental rights at work.
