The company has an opportunity to detail its process for identifying its bribery and corruption risks and impacts in specific locations or activities covering its own operations. Additionally, although the company has a publicly available policy statement outlining its stance on personal political activity and political funding and services, it could further disclose its lobbying approach. Moreover, enhancing transparency could involve the company disclosing its spending on lobbying efforts.
Provide and promote decent work
While the company states that it adheres to minimum wage standards for its employees and establishes expectations for wage paid by its suppliers, there is a potential for it to enhance its commitment by setting a clear time-bound target for paying a living wage, extending this requirement to suppliers, and outlining the support it will offer to suppliers in achieving this goal. The company could also explain how it calculates a living wage for the regions where it operates.
Additionally, while the company demonstrates a commitment to diversity, there is an opportunity for it to explicitly commit to gender equality and women’s empowerment. To further transparency, the company could disclose the ratio of the basic salary and remuneration of women to men.
Respect human rights
Although the company expects its suppliers to respect specific workers’ rights, it has an opportunity to explicitly mention all the ILO fundamental rights at work. Furthermore, it has an opportunity to reveal the process for identifying human rights risks and impacts that pertain to both its operations and its supply chain. It could also elaborate on the process used to assess and identify the human rights issues it deems salient. Moreover, the company has the potential to disclose a global system aimed at addressing, preventing and mitigating its identified salient human rights issues.
