Act ethically
The company has an opportunity to disclose a publicly available policy statement prohibiting bribery and corruption and to describe the process for identifying its bribery and corruption risks and impacts in specific locations or activities covering its own operations. While the company has a mechanism for stakeholders to raise bribery and corruption concerns, it could further clarify if this mechanism is accessible to all stakeholders and if complainants have the option to identify themselves or remain anonymous.
Furthermore, the company could demonstrate ethical conduct by publishing a policy statement that outlines its approach to lobbying and political engagement and emphasises its non-participation in political contributions, or alternatively, states the criteria of exceptions. It could also transparently disclose all lobbying expenditures.
Provide and promote decent work
The company has an opportunity to strengthen its commitment to health and safety of workers by disclosing a policy statement covering its operations and providing evidence of monitoring suppliers’ compliance. Additionally, it could set a time-bound target for ensuring all workers receive a living wage, describe the living wage determination methodology in regions where it operates, and disclose strategies to support suppliers in paying a living wage.
Furthermore, the company could commit to gender equality and women’s empowerment. It could also disclose that it has at least 30% women on the board of directors and report the ratio of the basic salary and remuneration of women to men.
Respect human rights
The company discloses statements expecting its suppliers to adhere to the ILO’s fundamental rights at work in accordance with domestic laws. However, there is a room to apply this statement universally across all contexts and locations.
Furthermore, it could describe the process for identifying its human rights risks and impacts in specific locations or activities within its supply chain. While the company discloses its salient human rights issues, it could also clarify how factors like geography, economy, and social considerations play a role in the identification process.
Additionally, while the company discloses that it conducts human rights risk assessments and its processes to prevent, mitigate or remediate its salient human rights issues, it could describe how the system applies to its supply chain.
