Act ethically
The company has an opportunity to strengthen its commitment against bribery and corruption by specifying the consequences of breaching anti-bribery and anti-corruption clauses in its business relationships’ contracts. Additionally, it could describe the process for identifying its bribery and corruption risks and impacts in specific locations or activities covering its own operations. Moreover, the company can demonstrate ethical practices by disclosing its approach to lobbying and political engagement, clarifying its non-participation in political contributions, and transparently disclosing lobbying expenditures.
Provide and promote decent work
The company has an opportunity to strengthen its commitment to health and safety of workers by using stronger language in its policy. Additionally, it could set a time-bound target for ensuring all workers receive a living wage and describes the living wage determination methodology. While it has set expectations on the wage paid by its suppliers, it has an opportunity to add a requirement for them to pay a living wage and disclose how it supports the payment.
The company has a statement on gender equality and women’s empowerment; however, it has an opportunity to translate it into a public policy document. It has an opportunity to disclose that it has at least 30% women on the Board of Directors and the ratio of the basic salary and remuneration of women to men.
Respect human rights
The company has an opportunity to strengthen its commitment to human rights by extending the expectation to its business relationships and by disclosing a policy statement that respects the International Labour Organization (ILO) fundamental rights at work, in its operations. Additionally, the company could describe the process for identifying human rights risks and impacts across all its activities, including its suppliers, as well as the process for assessing and identifying its salient human rights issues. Moreover, the company could establish a global system to address these salient human rights issues by implementing preventive, mitigative, or remedial measures.
