Wm Morrison Supermarkets

Wm Morrison Supermarkets (commonly known as Morrisons) is a food retailer operating across 497 supermarkets and serving 9 million customers weekly through these stores and its online home delivery service. Morrisons processes its own produce range, utilising 20 manufacturing sites, as well as distributing and retailing others from its eight distribution centres. Segment ranking summary

Morrisons ranks 10th among food retailers and 36th in the food and beverage processors segment. While Morrisons can be considered a leader among food retailers, it should be considered in the top grouping among food and beverage processors, presenting an opportunity for further improvement. Morrisons ranks in similar positions in each segment in its best performing area, environment, where it provides high disclosure on some topics, but is lagging in other areas, such as reducing its water usage or offering alternative protein products. Moreover, relative to its peers, Morrisons performs poorly across the social inclusion topics. This includes a lack of disclosure on its monitoring systems for child and forced labour and the health and safety of vulnerable groups in its supply chain, areas its higher ranking peers have already started addressing. Similarly, Morrisons could improve its performance against its peers by providing more disclosure on relevant nutrition topics.
