SES was founded in 1985 as Europe’s first private satellite operator. It was incorporated in 2001 and is headquartered in Luxembourg. In 2020, the group operated more than 70 satellites that supported broadcasting to over 1 billion TV viewers worldwide. Its satellites are used by 7 of the top 10 global telecom companies as well as companies from the airline, shipping, cruise and energy industries.
