Sony is a major client, using AMD’s chips in its game console. AMD is fabless, meaning that while it designs and sells semiconductors, it outsources manufacturing. It has operations around the world, including research and development (R&D) facilities, international sales offices and joint ventures with assembly and test facilities in Malaysia and China.
