Capacity building to support the Just Transition in a regional context
12 June 2024, 10:45 - 12:00
Ahead of the updated National Determined Contributions to be presented at COP30, there is a growing need to consider the link of these plans with the impact on workers and communities the so-called ‘Just Transition’. The Paris Agreement already envisaged the inclusion of the transition of the workforce as part of the decarbonization, the creation of green and decent jobs to make the transition an equitable one. It is widely acknowledged that to have a successful decarbonization it has to be a socially just one, which means it has to put the people at the heart of the transition.
The session will be open and highly interactive held in a workshop format where participants will explore what policy interventions are needed to support the development of credible just transition plans in the region.
