Hernando joined to support the Social and Nature teams at WBA in 2022. He holds a PhD in Anthropology and a Masters in Anthropology, Environment and Development from University College London.
Hernando has an extensive trajectory working with academic institutions such as UCL, Kew Gardens and Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia. His academic work has required him to work closely with local communities on topics such as healthcare, social inclusion and traditional ecological knowledge.
Throughout his career, Hernando has also worked in several social and development consultancies with corporate stakeholders on topics such as social impact assessments and the reduction of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. He is the author of several publications on ethnobiology and biodiversity.
