Established in 2000, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group operates the Shanghai Metro and Shanghai Maglev Train. The Shanghai Metro system spans 826 kilometres with 508 stations across 20 lines, making it the world's second longest by route length and largest by station count. It achieved the highest annual ridership globally in 2019, totalling 3.88 billion rides. The company serves 3.7 billion passengers covering 33 billion passenger-kilometres annually.
