Südzucker is one of Europe's largest sugar producers, resulting from the acquisition of diverse individual sugar factories in the continent. The company owns around 30 sugar plants and 3 refineries in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. It has an annual output capacity of five million tonnes, and also has processing activities across sugar products. Südzucker predominantly serves the food, retail, animal feed and petroleum industries.
