Michelin is a multinational tyre manufacturing company founded in 1889 and headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand, France. In addition to being one of the world's largest tyre manufacturers, Michelin is known for its travel guides, road maps and the Michelin stars that it awards to restaurants. It has nine research and development centres and 123 production sites in 26 countries, and a commercial presence in 170 countries. Michelin has 125,000 employees around the world.
