The Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand is a state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Interior. It provides power supply to 4.3 million customers covering an area of 3,192 square kilometres which covers Bangkok and two other major Thai cities, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan. The MEA was established in August 1958 by merging the Bangkok Electric Works and the Electrical Division of the Public Works Department.
