Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is a semiconductor company founded in 1969. Its microprocessors are used in computers and cloud-based graphics. Sony, one of AMD’s major clients, uses the company’s chips in its gaming console. AMD is fabless, meaning that while it designs and sells semiconductors, it outsources manufacturing. AMD has operations and R&D facilities around the world, international sales offices and joint ventures with assembly and test facilities in China and Malaysia.
