JBS

Assessed in 2023

Brazilian company JBS is the biggest protein producer in the world in terms of revenue and operates over 400 production facilities in 20 countries. The company produces beef, pork, sheep and chicken products for a consumer market that serves more than 330,000 customers in about 190 countries, as well as manufacturing by-products into leather, hygiene, cleaning and biodiesel products, among others. JBS has a daily production capacity of 75,000 cattle, 14 million birds, 115,000 pigs and 60,000 leather pieces. It holds leading market positions in home country Brazil, Argentina, Australia and the United States of America - the latter largely due to the controlling stake it purchased in Pilgrim's Pride, the nation's largest poultry company, in 2009. JBS has acquired 7 companies since 2021, including Vivera, Kerry Food Group's Meats and Meals business, HUON, BioTech Foods, Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats, Inc., Rivalea and King's Group.
