Act ethically
The company has an opportunity to formalise its commitment on prohibiting bribery and corruption in a public policy document and to include anti-bribery and anti-corruption clauses in its business relationships’ contracts. Additionally, it can establish a process to identify risks and impacts related to bribery and corruption, along with a grievance mechanism for stakeholder complaints which also accessible to all external stakeholders.
Furthermore, the company can demonstrate ethical conduct by publishing a policy statement that outlines its approach to lobbying and political engagement and emphasizes its non-participation in political contributions, or alternatively, states the criteria of exceptions. It could also transparently disclose all lobbying expenditures.
Provide and promote decent work
The company has an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to its operations and supply chain workers’ health and safety by formalising its commitment into a public policy statement and providing evidence of monitoring suppliers’ compliance.
Additionally, while it states that it pays minimum wage to its employees, it has an opportunity to commit to paying a living wage by setting a time-bound target, to describes the living wage determination methodology, and to discloses strategies to support suppliers in paying a living wage.
Furthermore, the company could commit to gender equality and women’s empowerment and disclose related targets. It could also disclose that it has at least 30% women on the Board of Directors and the ratio of the basic salary and remuneration of women to men.
Respect human rights
The company has an opportunity to strengthen its commitment to human rights by formalising its commitment to respect fundamental human rights and the International Labour Organization (ILO) fundamental rights at work, covering its operations and supply chain, into a public policy document.
Additionally, the company could describe the process for identifying human rights risks and impacts across all its activities, including its suppliers, as well as the process for assessing and identifying its salient human right issues. Moreover, the company could establish a global system to address these salient human rights issues by implementing preventive, mitigative, or remedial measures.
