Created in 212 by the merger of the former Nippon Steel Corporation and Sumitomo Metal Industries, Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation was renamed “Nippon Steel Corporation” in 219. Based in Tokyo, Japan, it is one of the world’s largest steel producers. Beyond its steel activities that make the large majority of its revenues, it operates in three other segments: engineering and construction, chemicals and materials as well as system solutions.
