Moreover, the company discloses categories of stakeholders whose human rights have been or may be affected by its activities such as employees, customers, local residents, and civil society. It also indicates that it has a human rights grievance mechanism accessible to all workers.

Governance and accountability for sustainable development
The company has an opportunity to strengthen its sustainability governance and accountability by assigning decision-making and oversight for its sustainability strategy to the highest governance body. It could link senior executives’ compensation to targets and objectives which cover nature, including biodiversity, and social issues. Additionally, while it states that the board of directors has expertise in sustainability, it has an opportunity to disclose whether its highest governance body has expertise with respect to the company’s most material sustainability topics including nutrition, climate, water, soil health, social inclusion, ecosystem conversion and biodiversity.

Lobbying and advocacy
The company has an opportunity to disclose a list of trade associations of which it is a member. Furthermore, it could provide a clear and detailed framework for assessing the alignment of these trade associations with its sustainability targets and report any (potential) misalignments between the lobbying activities of its trade associations and its sustainability targets.

Additionally, there is an opportunity for the company to adopt a nutrient profiling system and set a sales-based target to increase the proportion of more nutritious products, aligning with government-endorsed or externally validated nutritional guidelines.

Clear and transparent labelling
The company has an opportunity to adopt front-of-pack labels or any other consumer- facing nutrition labels that support consumers with making healthier food choices. Additionally, it can disclose the percentage of products/menus for which its front-of-pack labelling schemes have been rolled out.

Food safety
While the company discloses that 99% of its own operations are certified to a GFSI-recognised food safety scheme, it has an opportunity to extend the certifications to 100% of its own operations. Furthermore, it can disclose the percentage of food suppliers certified to a GFSI-recognised food safety scheme.

Child labour
The company has the opportunity to disclose examples of remediation programs in its operations when cases of child labour are found. Additionally, it can indicate how it is building the capacity of its suppliers to prevent child labour impacts, apart from conducting human rights trainings.

Forced labour
The company discloses a prohibition to retain workers’ personal documents and restrict workers’ freedom of movement for its operations and supply chain. However, it has an opportunity to disclose a prohibition to pay recruitment fees or related costs in its value chain. Furthermore, it could indicate how it is building the capacity of its suppliers to prevent forced labour impacts.

Living wage
The company states in its Business Partner Sustainable Guidelines that its suppliers shall maintain living wages but it has an opportunity to make this a requirement, or set a target for paying a living wage across its direct suppliers. Also, it could disclose the percentage of workers across its own operations or direct suppliers that are paid a living wage.

Act ethically
The company has an opportunity to establish a process to identify risks and impacts related to bribery and corruption. While it has a grievance mechanism to raise bribery and corruption concerns, it could further clarify if this mechanism is accessible to all stakeholders.

Furthermore, the company could demonstrate ethical conduct by publishing a policy statement that outlines its approach to political engagement and emphasises its non-participation in political contributions, or alternatively, states the criteria of exceptions. While it reports the amounts of political donations, it could also transparently disclose all lobbying expenditures.

Provide and promote decent work
The company states that it pays above minimum wage to its employees and considers paying above the living wage. However, it has an opportunity to use a stronger language for the commitment and to set a time-bound target for paying all workers a living wage. While it discloses how it defines living wage, it could further detail the methodology it follows to determine a living wage for the regions where it operates.

Additionally, the company has an opportunity to translate its commitment statements on gender equality and women’s empowerment into a public policy document. It could also disclose that it has at least 30% women on the Board of Directors and report the ratio of the basic salary and remuneration of women to men in its total direct operations for each employee category

Respect human rights
The company discloses that it conducts human rights risk assessments and states how it mitigates the risks. However, it could disclose a global system to act on all its salient human rights issues in all its activities.
