While the company allows stakeholder to report related concerns about bribery and corruption, the company could clarify if complainants can raise concerns without fear of reprisals. Additionally, the company has an opportunity to establish a clear policy for its lobbying and political engagement approach, publicly state that it does not make political contributions, and reveal its expenditures on lobbying activities.
Provide and promote decent work
The company could disclose a policy committing to respect the health and safety of workers. Additionally, while the company states that it pays minimum wage, it could commit to paying a living wage by setting a time-bound target, and reveal the method for determining a living wage in each region. Relatedly, it could extend its wage expectations from suppliers by requiring them to pay a living wage, and disclose how it supports the payment.
Moreover, the company’s commitment to diversity could be expanded by explicitly committing to gender equality and women’s empowerment. It could also report the ratio of basic salary and remuneration between women and men.
Respect human rights
The company has an opportunity to disclose a policy statement committing it to respect human rights. While the company commits to respect specific workers’ rights, it has an opportunity to reference all of the ILO fundamental rights at work in its operations and supply chain.
Additionally, the company could describe a comprehensive process for identifying human rights risks and impacts across all its activities and supply chain, and further explain how it assesses and identifies its salient human rights issues considering geographical, economic and social factors. Moreover, it could also reveal a global system to prevent, mitigate or remediate its salient human rights issues.
