While the company states in its Code of Conduct that it does not make political contributions, it could formalise this commitment in a public policy document and establish a policy detailing its approach to lobbying and political engagement. Additionally, it could disclose its expenditures on lobbying activities.
Provide and promote decent work
While the company states that it pays its employees a minimum wage, it has the opportunity to commit to a living wage by setting a time-bound target, and extend this requirement to its suppliers while disclosing how it supports such payment. It also has the opportunity to disclose how it monitors the health and safety performance of its suppliers.
While the company has expressed commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment, it can formalise these commitments in a public policy document and set time-bound targets. The company also has the opportunity to disclose the ratio of basic salary and remuneration between women and men.
Respect human rights
The company has a publicly available policy statement committing to respect specific workers’ rights but could strengthen this by referencing all the ILO fundamental rights at work, both for its own operations and its suppliers.
The company has the opportunity to elaborate on the process for identifying human rights risks and impacts, not only in its own operations but also in its supply chain. Further, it could disclose its methodology for assessing and identifying what it considers to be its salient human rights issues, and unveil a global system to address, prevent, or mitigate these issues.
