Starzen
Starzen is engaged in the processing, production and sale of meat products, such as fresh meat, ham, bacon, sausages and other processed meat products. Domestically, Starzen partners with 250 cooperating producers and operates through 18 of its own processing facilities.
Segment ranking summary
Starzen ranks 57th in the animal protein segment, a reflection of the fact that despite the company’s limited performance, many of its peers in the livestock, seafood and dairy sectors are underperforming compared to Starzen. The company’s efforts to disclose sustainability objectives in the environment measurement area, and to address issues of food safety and labelling regulations, demonstrate the start of such a journey. But like many of its peers, Starzen fails to disclose any information related to social inclusion, which is a clear area for improvement. Starzen also ranks 166th among food and beverage processors, a reflection of the fact that many more companies in this segment are further along in their efforts to transform the food system.
