METRO AG, is an international food wholesaler. In its core wholesale business, METRO is globally represented through 679 stores in 24 countries under the METRO and Makro brands. The group is also active in in-home delivery and food service distribution in ten countries via subsidiaries Classic Fine Foods, Rungis Express and Pro à Pro. METRO AG was founded in 1963 by the Schmidt-Ruthenbeck brothers in Essen, Germany.
