Segment summary ranking
Mercadona operates in the food and beverage manufacturers/processors and food retailers segments and ranks in the middle of the pack for both. Compared to its food retailer peers, the company lags behind in the environment measurement area, ranking in towards the lower end, due to its lack of targets on many key topics such a water use and deforestation. The company ranks in the middle of the pack on the other three measurement areas – governance and strategy, nutrition, and social inclusion – although there remains considerable room for improvement on all of these.
