DMK (Deutsches Milchkontor)
DMK (Deutsches Milchkontor) is a dairy cooperative. With 26 locations in ten German regions and 7,700 employees, the group is Germany's largest dairy company, obtaining its raw milk from more than 8,300 active dairy farmers. Besides cheese and other fresh products, DMK and its subsidiaries are engaged in the production of ingredients, baby food, animal feeds and health products. The cooperative was formed in 2011 with the merger of two of Germany's leading dairy companies at the time, Humana Milchindustrie and Nordmilch.
Segment ranking summary
DMK sits in the middle of the ranking in both its segments, demonstrating it has started the journey to food system transformation but with significant room for improvement. However, the company does not show leadership among its peers as it provides no evidence of leading practice and lacks significant disclosure across all measurement areas. Notably, it lags behind its direct peers in the social inclusion measurement area, as well as in nutrition where it has an opportunity to disclose how it is increasing the availability, affordability and accessibility of healthy foods.
