World Benchmarking Alliance chooses Montréal for its first hub in North America

This week marked an important milestone as we launched our first North American hub in Montréal. A significant moment for our organisation and for the broader movement to hold the world’s most influential companies accountable for their impact on people and the planet.
We take this step at a moment of profound global uncertainty. Climate change, biodiversity loss, inequality and rapid technological shifts are reshaping societies in ways that demand urgent and coordinated responses. Without meaningful change in how companies operate, there is no pathway to a stable or sustainable future.
North America is critical to our efforts as nearly a quarter of the companies we benchmark are based in this region, and many of them define global supply chains and markets. Establishing a hub in Montréal allows us to engage and strengthen relationships with companies and stakeholders across Quebec, Canada and beyond.
Montréal is a strategic city where international organizations and sustainable finance intersect, making it an ideal location for WBA’s North American hub. Our organization looks forward to deepening engagement with stakeholders in Montréal, Québec and Canada”, said Gerbrand Haverkamp, Executive Director of the World Benchmarking Alliance. “As an organization that collaborates with partners in both the private and public sectors to advance sustainable development, we are convinced that this hub will give us the right tools to amplify our global impact.
We are especially grateful to the Government of Canada, the Government of Québec and the City of Montréal for making this hub possible.
