Join the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), BSR and the World Benchmarking Alliance for a half-day, in-person, interactive event during Climate Week NYC focused on the role of transition pathways in guiding companies and countries toward credible climate action.
As pressure mounts for robust and transparent climate transition plans, this event will explore how local and sectoral pathways can serve as a strategic compass, helping businesses and policymakers align with national targets and long-term low-emissions strategies. Through expert presentations and multistakeholder breakout discussions, we will examine how pathways are developed, how to identify and apply the most relevant ones, and what benefits they bring across different contexts.
The agenda includes:
Expert presentations: insights into the development, interpretation, and application of global, national, and sector-specific pathways
Opening remarks: Perrine Toledano (CCSI)
- Thomas White (RMI); presenting on selection and interpretation of transition pathways in transition assessments, highlighting how different types of pathways (e.g., IAMs, NDCs, industry pathways) influence results and their appropriate applications.
- Adrien Rose (Oxford Sustainable Finance Group); presenting work on assessing companies against national transition plans
- Romain Poivet (WBA); presenting upcoming standard EN 18074 on Sectoral Transition Plan
- Corentin Le Hesran (ADEME); presenting work on the development of sectoral transition plans, aligning plans with NDCs (LT-LEDs) and how it can help companies transition.
Company panel: Reflections from company representatives from the electric utilities and hard-to-abate sectors) on how they are engaging with pathways – or why they aren’t – and what’s needed to close the gap.
- Julie Dugard, Associate Director for Climate and Nature (BSR) – Moderator
- Rodrigo Lauria, Director of Climate Change and Carbon (Vale)
- Alexandre Marty, Head of Climate and Natural Resources (EDF Group)
- Ibrahim Eryazici, Senior Sustainability Manager (Dow)
Breakout discussions to share experiences, challenges, and opportunities for alignment with peers and experts.
This event aims to build capacity, foster interactive peer-peer dialogue, and identify actionable solutions to help companies embed transition pathways into their climate strategies, while strengthening links to national plans and global goals.
