Corporate accountability: Closing the gap in pursuit of sustainable development

This white paper by the World Benchmarking Alliance looks at:
• the process of corporate accountability
• the ability of different stakeholders to hold companies accountable
• some of the gaps in effectively holding companies accountable
• possible pathways for strengthening the corporate accountability process.

The paper outlines how various stakeholders can collectively hold companies accountable for their role in building a fairer and more sustainable world, by making the impact that companies have on people and planet consequential to their success.

The content of this paper was informed by desk research, an in-person consultation session held with some of our Allies, and interviews that we conducted with 38 people from various stakeholder groups, including academia, companies, civil society organisations, financial institutions, media and multilateral organisations.
