Uniper

Uniper is a publicly listed energy company headquartered in Germany and majority-owned by the German government through KfW. It operates internationally in power generation, energy trading, and storage, with fossil fuel assets across Europe. Formerly majority-owned by Finland’s Fortum, Uniper was nationalised in 2022 during the energy crisis. Its capacity declined after the loss of Russian assets, including its Unipro subsidiary. The company sources much of its electricity from trading and is listed in the Fortune Global 500.
