BASF, headquartered in Germany, is a public company and one of the world’s largest chemical producers. Its main activities span chemicals, materials, industrial solutions, surface technologies, nutrition and care, and agricultural solutions. BASF is known for brands such as Nunhems in vegetable seeds and is active in both conventional plant breeding and genetic engineering. In 2018, BASF expanded its portfolio through the acquisition of businesses and assets from Bayer, after the company's purchase of Monsanto. The company is listed in the Fortune Global 500 and the Forbes Global 2000.
