FEMNET is a membership network which is anchored on pan-African feminist principles and values. FEMNET is intentional in ensuring that diverse voices, perspectives and priorities of African women and girls in all their diversity are heard in key decision-making policy processes, platforms and strategic spaces. As a feminist, pan-African women’s rights organization with over 800 individual and institutional members in 50 countries in Africa and in the diaspora, FEMNET continues to amplify African women’s voices and advance women’s rights in policy and in practice.

With her Secretariat based in Nairobi, Kenya, FEMNET was established in 1988 with the aim of strengthening the role and contribution of African NGOs focusing on women’s rights, gender equality and women’s empowerment. Over the years, FEMNET has strategically positioned herself as a mobilizer, convenor, organizer, and facilitator of critical dialogues around women’s economic justice and rights; transformative women’s leadership; sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR); ending violence against women and girls (VAWG) and harmful or discriminatory practice and climate justice and natural resource governance.
