Melinda joined WBA in April 2020 and is responsible for the research within the Social Transformation, including the Core Social Indicators, Corporate Human Rights Benchmark and Gender Benchmark. She also assists in developing WBA’s broader research agenda. She believes that the private sector is instrumental in pursuing sustainable development, particularly with regard to improving people’s quality of life, and that benchmarking companies can help drive positive change.
With a background in development policy, Melinda began her career at the OECD working with the Development Assistance Committee, the Better Life Index team and the Secretary-General’s cabinet, where she was also involved in social impact investing and blended finance initiatives. To further engage the private sector in advancing progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, Melinda joined the Business & Sustainable Development Commission as its Research Manager and subsequently consulted for SystemiQ. Melinda holds a Masters in European Affairs from Sciences Po, Paris and a BA in Comparative Politics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
