Today, 16 December 2019, we are happy to publish the draft methodology for the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Benchmark(GEWEB). We invite all interested stakeholders to review the methodology and provide us with feedback by 31 January 2020 via this link.

GEWEB seeks to measure, compare and incentivise corporate impact on gender equality and women’s empowerment across the entire value chain. It starts with a spotlight on the apparel industry, including the 36 leading global apparel companies we identified in our scope. This draft methodology is the result of WBA’s continuous stakeholder engagement process, building on roundtables in Mumbai,  Vancouver and Bangalore (just last week), as well as on conversations with companies, investors, civil society, academics and governments.

We kindly invite all interested stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft methodology. The input will help us, ensuring that our work reflects the expectations of a broad set of stakeholders and is as meaningful and impactful as it can possibly be.

This draft methodology is open for public comment for the coming 7 weeks. Thereafter, we will process all feedback that was submitted and share our final GEWEB methodology by March 2020, after which we will begin the data collection phase of our work. We will publish our first  iteration of GEWEB in September 2020.
