Trend
SIG receives a trend score of -. If the company were reassessed in the near future, its score would likely decrease. The company has witnessed a reduction in its emissions intensity from 2017 to 2022 and it is likely that its expected rate of decrease in scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity over the coming five years will align with a 1.5°C pathway. Furthermore, it aims to reduce the clinker-to-cement ratio of its products to 61% by 2030, from the current level of 69%, a target surpassing the expected sectoral average of 65% for 2030. However, the short-term focus of the company’s transition plan is cause for alarm, especially considering SIG’s prominent position in Indonesia’s cement industry. Moreover, the plan lacks mention of carbon capture technologies among its low-carbon business models. This calls the company’s future low-carbon performance into question.
