Ahold Delhaize
Ahold Delhaize is one of the world's largest food retail groups, formed in 2016 with the merger of Ahold and Delhaize. The group serves 60 million customers on a weekly basis through its major operation hubs of Europe, the US and Indonesia, operating 7,659 grocery and specialty stores across the three regions. Its main business touches distribution and retail operations, including both online and retail shops, with the company focusing recent efforts on diversifying further into eCommerce activities. In its home country the Netherlands, Ahold Delhaize has diversified activities outside of food retail, including online merchandise store bol.com and drugstore Etos. Its acquisition of FreshDirect, an online grocery pioneer, in 2021 is eyed to aid its accelerated e-commerce expansion.
