LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton is a French company and one of the world’s leading luxury products groups with 75 brands across six sectors. The company employs over 150,000 people and operates 4,915 stores in over 70 countries. In 2020, the company had US$50.8 billion in revenue.
Summary
LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton, assessed based on its fashion maisons, ranks 19th in this year’s Gender Benchmark with a score of 30.4 out of 100. It displays leading practice across 4 out of 34 indicators and is ahead of industry peers on representation and compensation and benefits. However, the company lags behind on governance and strategy and health and well-being.
LVMH has a strong focus on the professional development of women, both in the company and in the community , and tracks the number of women participating in programmes offered. It also maintains a gender balance (between 40-60%) on its board of directors and among senior management, as well as discloses the gender composition of its workforce across multiple levels of leadership and by occupational function. Furthermore, the company offers its employees access to childcare in day care centres or at home and provides additional support to working parents, such as authorizing absence for employees with sick children.
However, LVMH has only incorporated gender into its business strategy for its own workplace and in the community, and not for its supply chains. It fails to support suppliers in providing their workers with access to gender-responsive health information and services or require that its suppliers have in place on-site health clinics with credentialed providers. Moreover, the company does not actively prevent violence and harassment in the workplace or the supply chain, for example, by providing training to managers and workers.
