It displays leading practice across 10 out of 34 indicators and is ahead of industry peers in governance and strategy and health and well-being. It also displays a strong performance on violence and harassment in the supply chain. However, the company lags behind on compensation and benefits and representation in both the workplace and supply chain.

Levi’s has established a gender strategy with a focus on creating an inclusive culture, furthering women in leadership, ensuring pay equity and recruiting diverse candidates. It has also publicly disclosed and tracks against specific supply chain targets, reporting more than 219,000 apparel workers who have benefitted from factory-based programmes that improve health, financial literacy and gender equality. Moreover, the company has a comprehensive policy that prohibits sexual harassment in the supply chain and supports its suppliers through programmes such as the ‘Safe Workplaces, Safe Communities’ initiative in Cambodia, which aims to reduce gender-based violence and sexual harassment in workplaces and communities. Levi’s further requires its suppliers to have an effective remediation process for addressing violence and harassment grievances, including counselling, warnings, demotions and termination.

While Levi’s notably provides childcare support to employees, it fails to disclose its global gender pay gap or provide at least 14 weeks paid primary carer leave, as recommended by the ILO. Furthermore, in the supply chain, there is no evidence that the company takes any action to ensure that workers are provided with formal contracts, a living wage or family-friendly benefits. There is no evidence regarding the promotion, turnover rate or absenteeism level of women employees.
