Bank of Africa discloses the proportion of women in its total direct operations workforce for each employee category. It also discloses a public commitment to protect personal data.

It is unclear if end responsibility for sustainability issues lies with the highest governance body. Moreover, there is no evidence that the financial institution links the remuneration of its executive or management teams to sustainability performance criteria. In terms of female representation in leadership positions, women are not represented on the board of directors as zero members are women. The financial institution also has an opportunity to reach at least 40% female representation in senior leadership positions and to disclose the actions taken to address any pay gaps. Regarding engagement, Bank of Africa has an opportunity to describe its engagement approach on sustainability themes and impact topics with clients and investees.

There is no evidence that Bank of Africa discloses a target to reach net-zero financed emissions by 2050 or its committed to minimising its negative impacts on nature and biodiversity. The financial institution has an opportunity to disclose the key sectors and companies it has identified as priorities to engage with on climate change, specifically on alignment with the Paris Agreement. It could also disclose its financing activities devoted to climate solutions. On fossil fuels, while the financial institution will not provide any form of finance to any new coal-fired power plants in Morocco, it has an opportunity to disclose a similar commitment that covers all its financing activities.

There is no evidence that Bank of Africa has a publicly available policy statement committing it to respect human rights laid out in the UNGPs and the ILO declaration on fundamental rights at work. The financial institution has an opportunity to describe a comprehensive process for identifying its human rights risks and impacts across all its activities, especially its financing activities. It could also establish a grievance mechanism accessible to all workers, external individuals and communities to raise human rights concerns and complaints. Regarding transparency on financial inclusivity, Bank of Africa has an opportunity to disclose the amount of finance directed towards small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or low-income developing countries.
