Parlevliet & Van der Plas is an international family-run seafood company. The company has its own fishing fleet targeting pelagic, whitefish and tuna species. Its main markets for the pelagic species it catches are countries in West Africa. Parlevliet & Van der Plas is also active in fish and shrimp processing. In 2018, it bought German seafood processor Deutsche See and increased its downstream operations.
In the animal proteins segment, Parlevliet & Van der Plas ranks in the top third, and has a similar rank in both governance and strategy and environment measurement areas. It does best relative to its peers in nutrition, being in the top 15. However, its performance in social inclusion is below the average of its peers in the animal proteins segments, and it is where the company has the most to improve.
